Wind Works Acquires Zero Emission People

EBR Staff Writer Published 04 February 2010

Wind Works Power (Wind Works), a Canada-based developer of wind energy projects, has closed its acquisition of wind energy developer Zero Emission People.

Wind Works acquired Zero Emission People's equity interest in 10 wind energy projects in Canada and the US totaling 320MW plus options to increase the equity interest in the same projects to a total of 355MW.

Wind Works has a current total potential developmental pipeline of 23 wind energy projects totaling 587MW.

Ingo Stuckmann, CEO and director of Wind Works, said: "With the closing of the Zero Emission People transaction, we will now focus our efforts on advancing our project portfolio in Ontario, the United States, and Europe in order to fully maximize shareholder value."

In December 2009, Wind Works acquired a 50% interest in six wind energy projects totaling 80MW located in Ontario, with an option to increase its interests to 100%. All the six projects submitted power contract applications on November 30 under the new feed-in tariff program as part of the Ontario Power Authority initial launch period, Wind Works said.
