Vestas to supply turbines for Harpanahalli wind farm in southern India

Danish wind turbine manufacturer Vestas has received an order from Hong Kong based China Light and Power (CLP) to supply 24 units of the V82-1.65MW turbine for Phase 1 of the Harpanahalli wind farm in the Indian state of Karnataka.

The contract comprises supply and commissioning of the turbines, a VestasOnline Business SCADA system as well as a 10-year service and maintenance agreement.

Delivery of the turbines is scheduled to start in the third quarter of 2010 and the project is expected to be completed during the first quarter of 2011.

In India, CLP currently owns and operates wind projects with a generating capacity of close to 300MW and has around 150MW under construction in the states of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Gujarat.
