GE Energy Signs Service Agreements To Maximize Performance Of Wind Turbines Across North America
Published: 21-Sep-2009
GE Energy has signed three customized operations and maintenance (O&M) agreements for projects covering over 600 1.5-megawatt (MW) wind turbines located in diverse environments across North America. The customers included in the agreements are BP Alternative Energy North America Inc., Wind Capital Group and Padoma Wind Power LLC. Designed to help customers maximize the return on their wind turbine investment, this service program is customizable on both a fleet-wide and site-specific level.
North American General Electric Company's (GE) 1.5 MW wind turbine owners and operators are benefiting from GE Energy’s wind service program.
With service capability ranging from remote monitoring and diagnostics to on-site support, GE’s service program for GE 1.5 MW units provides the necessary level of support that customers need to enhance and maintain turbine performance through the lifecycle of the unit.
“As the original equipment manufacturer and a global leader in the wind industry, GE has the resources and expertise to help our customers keep their wind turbine assets operating at peak performance. Because service needs vary not only customer to customer, but also site to site, GE offers customers the ability to choose the level of support necessary to reach their operational goals,” said Victor Abate, vice president of renewables, GE Energy.
BP Alternative Energy North America, Inc. and GE Energy signed a customized O&M agreement designed to increase the availability of several hundred units in BP’s wind fleet. The five-year agreement covers 412 GE 1.5 MW wind turbines that will be installed at a variety of sites in the continental US.
Wind Capital Group’s Lost Creek Ridge Wind Farm, will receive five years of operation support for 100 GE 1.5xle wind turbines to be delivered in 2011.
GE recently signed a five-year extension to its existing O&M contract with Padoma Wind Power. The deal is for 100 1.5 MW wind turbine generators at the Langford Wind Farm in Texas.
GE’s service program of wind energy service offerings for GE 1.5 MW units can include support ranging from remote monitoring & diagnostics, to routine services, to onsite support, to preventative maintenance and advanced field services, together with associated upgrades and parts programs. In addition, customers who elect a full suite of GE Energy’s wind service offerings qualify for an availability guarantee from GE.
