Gamesa's orders for G97-2.0 MW turbine total 356 MW in 2011

Spanish wind turbine manufacturer Gamesa orders for its G97-2.0 MW turbine total 356 MW in 2011.

Spain, accounted for the largest share of the G97 turbine orders with 71 units of the amounting to 142MW of capacity.

China accounted for 28% of orders, with a total of 100 MW, followed closely by the US which generated orders for 94 MW while customers in India ordered 10 MW.

The new G9X-2.0 MW platform is equipped with four rotors of varying diameters (80m, 87m, 90m and 97m) and multiple tower heights.

The new machine offers a series of enhancements included an updated look and improvements in the cooling system and a state-of-the-art nacelle design.

In addition, it features a new aerodynamic blade tip design and the Gamesa NRS noise control system, developed to ensure maximum output and minimal noise.

The contracts were secured in the second half of 2011.
