Acciona starts operations of 16MW wind park in Spain

EBR Staff Writer Published 07 February 2012

Spanish renewable energy project developer Acciona Energy has started operations of a new 16MW El Chaparro wind park located in the province of Guadalajara, Spain.

The facility will produce electricity equivalent to the consumption of around 12,000 households.

The wind park, equipped with eight 2MW wind turbines, is included in the preliminary allocation register for the remuneration of special regime plants of the Spanish Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism.

The plant will displace around 32,500 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions every year and also replace fossil fuels equivalent to almost 20,000 barrels of oil a year.

El Chaparro is the eighteenth wind park that Acciona operates and owns in the Castilla-La Mancha.

The facility will take the wind power capacity owned by the company in the region of Castilla-La Mancha to 560MW.
